Matherine is one of the children cared for and supported by Alfred Bwambale — famously known as Omuzana — at FAPCAN. She is the fourth last born among her siblings, raised with love, faith, and resilience under the guidance of her grandmother Bujune Christine and grandfather Baluku Wilson Serebethe.

She is currently pursuing her studies at St. Mary's High School, Kasese, where she continues to dream of becoming a strong and influential woman in society.

"For Matherine, the crown is not only a symbol of beauty — it is a sign of responsibility, courage, and purpose. She describes this achievement as a life-changing milestone that has shaped her confidence and given her hope to pursue bigger dreams."

She proudly says that her greatest role model is her uncle Alfred Bwambale because of his sacrifice and commitment to helping helpless souls regardless of their background, status, or tribe. She also looks up to Mother Mary as a symbol of love, purity, humility, and strength.

In her emotional message after winning the crown, Matherine thanked the entire FAPCAN community and especially Alfred Bwambale for organizing such an empowering event for young girls and boys. According to her, the pageant has not only discovered talents — it has opened doors of confidence, leadership, and hope for many young people.

Born from Inspiration & Courage

This initiative was inspired by the courage and success of one of the FAPCAN girls who previously participated in an outside competition and emerged as the 1st Runner Up. Her achievement gave hope, confidence, and a new image to the FAPCAN community, proving that young girls from the community can shine on bigger platforms.

"Because of that inspiration, FAPCAN officially launched its own annual Beauty and Talent Pageant to continue nurturing girls and boys, shaping them for future leadership, talent development, public speaking, modelling, cultural preservation, and national representation."

The event deeply moved mothers and elderly women in the community, who watched young girls present themselves with dignity, intelligence, creativity, and cultural pride. For the Bakonzo community and the entire Rwenzori region, this became a strong message that culture, talent, and unity can shape a better future.

The Beauty Pageant was successfully hosted by Alfred Bwambale, the FAPCAN leader and founder, known by the community as Omuzana. Under his visionary leadership, this colourful and inspiring event became one of the most memorable celebrations in the FAPCAN community's history.

Alfred's commitment to nurturing young people — their talent, their identity, and their potential — is at the heart of this annual pageant. He believes that every young person, regardless of background, deserves a platform to shine.
